The obstetrics and gynaecology department caters to a wide spectrum of women’s health from adolescent care to menopause. We take pride in covering the complete range of our specialty from routine antenatal care to high risk pregnancy, variety of abdominal,vaginal surgeries and minimally invasive surgeries. We also actively participate in multiple outreach programmes to focus on community health.
Our vision is to advocate high standard of health care to women through a personalized clinical approach and empower them to make healthy choices at all ages.
We have a strong and diverse medical education programme for our students ( both undergraduate and post graduate) and interns, with a hands on approach to learning by doing and we encourage an extensive array of clinical research programme.
The department of pharmacology is the place where convergence of innovation, excellence and commitment in advancing medical knowledge take place. It stands at the forefront of pharmacological education and research fostering a dynamic environment for both students and faculty.
Academic Programs include teaching Pharmacology to students as per the NMC based CBME curriculum in the form of Lectures, Quiz, Seminars, Integrated teaching, Problem based learning (PBL),Case based learning (CBL), Self-directed learning (SDL), Preclass assignments, Demonstrations, Small group discussions, etc. These sessions cover fundamental and essential topics in pharmacology, ensuring students gain a robust theoretical foundation
Practicals include Hands-on laboratory sessions with mannequins, demonstration of effect of drugs on living tissues using computer assisted learning (CAL) software, provide students with practical experience in pharmacology reinforcing their understanding of theoretical concepts
Regular workshops and training sessions on contemporary topics like pharmacovigilance and good clinical practice keep students and faculty updated with the latest advancements in the fields concerned.
The department nurtures the research qualities in under graduates by motivating and guiding them for the ICMR - Short term studentship (STS) programs and UGSRS (Undergraduate Student Research Scholarship) programs etc. Faculty, in addition to individual research collaborate with other departments and research institutions to undertake interdisciplinary research projects, broadening the scope and impact of research.
The department hosts quizzes, competitions, and poster presentations to encourage students to showcase their knowledge and engage in healthy academic competition.
“Reaching out to the communities”
Outreach services has been the mainstay among multiple activities by community medicine department. These services are primarily being provided through the peripheral centres under the department – Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) & Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC).
Services across the comprehensive health care spectrum (preventive, promotive, curative & rehabilitative) in the form of outpatient, inpatient & referral services, emergency health care, health awareness & education campaigns, school health programmes are provided on a regular basis. Important health days are observed all along the year, supplementing the regular activities. Also, noteworthy of mentioning, the department constantly create and provide opportunities to the undergraduates & postgraduates to be part of all the activities, enriching their learning experiences, while making them competent to operate on an independent basis in the future.
A post graduate zonal CME was conducted on 13/08/2023 at NRIIMS.About 75 delegates attended.
